Dramatic Health Recoveries Reported By Patients Who Took Their Doctor’s Advice and Stopped Using GMO Foods

by Jeffrey M. Smith RSS

executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology and author of "Seeds of Deception"

Are genetically modified (GM) foods making you sick – I mean really sick? Up until recently, all that we could say was thank goodness you’re not a lab rat; GM feed messes them up big time. GMOs (genetically modified organisms) appear to trigger the immune systems of both mice and rats as if they were under attack. In addition, the gastrointestinal system is adversely affected, animals age more quickly, and vital organs are damaged. When fed GM foods, lab animals can also become infertile, have smaller or sterile offspring, increased infant mortality, and even hair growing in their mouths. Have I got your attention?

Biotechnology corporations such as Monsanto try to distort or deny the evidence, sometimes pointing to their own studies that supposedly show no reactions. But when scientists such as French toxicologist G.E. Seralini re-analyzed Monsanto’s raw data, it actually showed that the rats fed GM corn suffered from clear signs of toxicity – evidence that industry scientists skillfully overlooked.

Doctors Prescribe Non-GMO Diets; Remarkable Recoveries Result

Although there have been no human clinical trials, experts conclude that there is sufficient evidence from animal feeding studies to remove GMOs altogether. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called for a moratorium in 2009 based on their review of the research. According to their former president, Dr. Robin Bernhoft, the Academy “recommends that all physicians should prescribe non-genetically modified food for all patients, and that we should educate all of our patients on the potential health dangers, and known health dangers of GMO food.”

Today, thousands of physicians and nutritionists do just that, and they report that a wide variety of health conditions improve after people make the change. Here’s some recent examples:

1) Trial consultant LaDonna Carlton, had to take two pills, three times a day to suppress the painful cramps and constant diarrhea associated with her irritable bowel syndrome. “My doctor told me I would be on this forever,” says LaDonna. But then she met a new doctor, internist Emily Lindner, MD. “The first thing she did,” says LaDonna, “was take me off GMOs,” including soy, corn, canola oil, and sugar. “Within two months,” she says, “I didn’t need the medication any longer.”

Since LaDonna stopped preparing foods with GMOs, her husband Fred was swept along with the new diet. And he’s glad he was. “I feel 10 times better,” he says. At 73, Fred plays full court basketball, even with two artificial knees. The new diet, he says, “made me feel much younger... I feel like I’m 50.”

2) Interior designer, Carol Salb, also recovered from irritable bowel syndrome, as well as cold hands and feet, thinning hair, allergies, and daily congestion. “I felt better in two and half weeks [after going GMO-free],” she says. That was six years ago and she’s still going strong.

3) We interviewed former school teacher Theresa Haerle on her 25th day on a GMO-free diet, and she had already shed more than 10 pounds. Even more remarkable was her recovery from 30 years of colitis – by the third day of her diet. In addition, her skin problems started to clear, she had more energy than she’d had in years, and it no longer hurt to get out of bed in the morning.

4) Kids are also recovering. One middle schooler changed his diet and no longer suffers from incapacitating migraines and asthma. Another recovered from horrible pain in his gut.

Although these patient interviews had been set up by physicians, at the Institute for Responsible Technology we’ve heard similar stories for a long time. Laurie lost 35 pounds in one year. Paul’s restless leg syndrome is gone – unless he accidentally eats a GMO. Many say their symptoms go away when visiting Europe, where food companies removed GMOs long ago due to consumer rejection.

Dr. Lindner says, “I tell my patients to avoid genetically modified foods because in my experience, with those foods there is more allergies and asthma,” as well as digestive issues such as gas, bloating, irritable bowel, colitis, and leaky gut. “And what emanates from that,” she says, “is everything. Lots of arthritis problems, autoimmune diseases, anxiety... neurological problems; anything that comes from an inspired immune system response.”

The speed of recovery varies, usually depending on the symptom. “When I change people from a GMO diet to a GMO-free diet,” she says, “I see results instantaneously in people who have foggy thinking and people who have gut symptoms like bloating, gas, irritation. In terms of allergies, it might take two to five days. In terms of depression, it starts to lift almost instantaneously. It takes from a day, to certainly within two weeks.” Full results usually take about four to six weeks. Dr. Lindner doesn’t just eliminate GMOs in her dietary regimen, but that, she says, is the most critical component.

People who switch to non-GMO diets often do so by buying organic foods – which are not allowed to use GMOs. This raises a critical point in the analysis. Were the health recoveries stemming from eliminating GMOs or from other co-factors such as the reduction in chemicals and increased nutrition found in organics? Similarly, since most GMOs in our diet are found in processed foods, some people reduced GMOs by cooking from scratch. So they simultaneously eliminate additives that may contribute to disorders. And for others, they may also eliminate food categories, such as gluten or dairy, based on a diagnosis. So what’s really causing these dramatic recoveries?

Similar Livestock Stories – Without The Co-factors

Fortunately, the experience of numerous veterinarians and farmers around the world gives us insight. When they take livestock off GMO soy or corn and substitute the non-GMO equivalent, they don’t have these pesky co-factors. The animals are not eating organic, there’s no change in nutrients or additives, and yet the results are still impressive.

When a Danish pig farmer switched to non-GMO soy in April 2011 for his 450 sows and their offspring, within two days the animals’ serious diarrhea problems virtually disappeared. During the following year, death from ulcers and bloat, which had claimed 36 pigs over the previous two years, vanished. Conception rate was up, litter size was up, diseases were down, and birth defects were eliminated.

An Iowa farmer saw immediate changes in his 3,000 pig nursery after switching to non-GMO corn last December. Not only is there a lower rate of disease and medical bills, he says, “Our pigs are happier and more playful.”

A feedlot operator with 5,000 head of cattle also switched to non-GMO corn and reported, “We’ve had a lot less pneumonia and health issues since that time.” Like the pig farmer, the behaviour changed noticeably. His “cattle have been a lot calmer.” Many farmers who were struggling with high rates of infertility and miscarriages in their livestock say they turned the situation around after switching to non-GMO feed.

Renowned veterinarian and author Michael W. Fox, whose syndicated column has reached tens of millions, says that when GMOs were introduced to the marketplace, cats and dogs started suffering from much higher rates of allergies, itching, and gastrointestinal problems. He now has a file drawer full of letters from happy pet owners confirming that his advice to switch the pets to non-GMO and organic feed cleared up the problem.

Repeating Symptoms: From Lab Rats to Consumers

What is striking about all these reports is the similarity of experiences. Many of the same categories of disorders identified in animal feeding studies by the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, (e.g. gastrointestinal, immune, and reproductive), also clear up in humans and livestock when they switch to a non-GMO diet. Moreover, these same problems are on the rise in the U.S. population since GMOs were introduced in 1996. Inflammatory bowel disease is up 40 percent. Multiple chronic illnesses nearly doubled in nine years. Food allergies, infertility, asthma, autoimmune diseases, etc., have accelerated among U.S. consumers, nearly all of whom eat GMOs without even knowing it.

Even autism rates may be impacted. When an autism specialist heard a scientist lecture about the behavioural, neurological, and physiological changes in mice, rats, and livestock fed GMOs, he told the speaker afterwards: “That’s exactly what we are finding in our autistic children.” Many parents report significant improvements in behaviour and gastrointestinal disorders in their autistic children, after they remove GMOs from the diet. (See resource list.)

How Could GMOs Be So Bad?

To understand how genetically engineered crops might contribute to so many serious disorders, it is helpful to understand a few details of the technology. GM crops have foreign genes inserted into their DNA, which is followed by cloning of those cells into plants.

1) Irrespective of which foreign gene is used, the very process of insertion and cloning causes massive collateral damage to the plants’ natural DNA. This has resulted, for example, in a new allergen in Monsanto’s GM corn and a huge allergen increase in their GM soy. Most of these types of unexpected side effects, which can add toxins or carcinogens to our meals, are never even screened for.

2) The GM crops on the market contain added genetic material from bacteria and viruses. These pieces of DNA, as well as the RNA and proteins they produce, have never before been part of the human diet; that can be a problem for the immune system. According to Martha Grout, MD, “Genetically modified foods create inflammation in the system.” Inflammation, in turn, can lead to a wide variety of diseases, including allergies, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, and heart disease. Dr. Emily Lindner likewise interprets the impact of GMOs as “an immune or inflammatory response” and treats it accordingly.

3) The gene inserted into certain GM corn and cotton varieties is designed to provoke a response – in insects that is. The gene produces a poison called Bt-toxin that kills certain bugs by breaking holes in their digestive tracts. In spite of assurances by the biotech industry to the contrary, a study published this year confirmed that the toxin also breaks holes in human cells. A Canadian study in 2011 found Bt-toxin from Monsanto’s corn circulating in the blood of 93 percent of the pregnant women tested, as well as in 80 percent of their unborn fetuses. Bt corn might therefore not only provoke an inflamed, leaky digestive tract, it might wreak havoc in our bloodstream, and in the delicate brains of infants whose blood brain barriers are not developed.

4) Three minor GM crops, papaya (grown in Hawaii and China exclusively), zucchini, and yellow crookneck squash, contain inserted virus genes designed to fend off disease. Eating these, however, may have the exact opposite effect on us. Viral genes can produce viral proteins, which as a class are well-known to suppress the body’s defences against viral infection. They can also be toxic.

5) The most widely used GMOs are called “herbicide tolerant,” including soy, corn, cotton, canola, sugar beets, and alfalfa. This trait allows farmers to spray Monsanto’s weed killer Roundup, for example, on their Roundup Ready crops without killing them. The genes inserted into these plants produce proteins with allergenic properties. Perhaps of greater concern is that the sprayed toxins are concentrated into the food portion of the plant and end up in our diet. Roundup is linked to cancer, Parkinson’s, birth defects, and endocrine disruption.

6) And now the bad news. The only human feeding study confirmed that part of the gene inserted into Roundup Ready soybeans can transfer into DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines. If the transferred genes continue to produce proteins (and there is evidence suggesting it does), then we may have allergens, viral proteins, or even Bt-toxin continuously manufactured within our own digestive tracts.

OK, The Good News

Fortunately, as people learn about the health dangers of GMOs, feel better from non-GMO diets, and tell others, the non-GMO movement grows. There are now millions who seek healthier non-GMO foods. Since GMOs offer no consumer benefits; and since the major food companies in North America have already removed GMOs from their European brands due to consumer rejection, any measurable drop in sales that is linked with growing anti-GMO sentiment here will likely trigger a rapid race to non-GMO status.

The tipping point threshold is likely to require only about five percent of consumers.

A critical vote in California this November may accelerate the non-GMO revolution. A measure requiring mandatory labeling of GMOs is on the ballot. If passed, we think food companies would rather avoid GMOs than admit they use them. Especially since 53 percent of Americans say they would choose the non-GMO brands once labels give them a clear choice.

I’ll bet that after learning about the evidence of health dangers, that percentage is likely to grow.

Guidelines for Buying Non-GMO

Though California’s Prop. 37 failed I extend my gratitude and sincere thanks to California for publicizing the dangers of GMO. Had this passed, it would have proved a source of great blessing to humanity and put an end to this eugenics agenda that masks poison as “food.”

Note: You can download this pdf file created by the Center for Food Safety that provides guidelines for buying non-GMO foods in your local stores. This tells you what you can eat that is not GMO contaminated.  ~G

In addition, should you want more info concerning GMO products and the companies producing them, please take a look at this excellent list put together by Stephanie Ladwig-Cooper on Facebook.

7 THINGS About GMO

Farmers and eaters around the country and the world are watching the Nov. 6 election in California with bated breath.

Will Proposition 37 -- requiring labeling of GMOs in our food -- pass? Note that even China requires labeling! But here in the U.S., GMOs took off in the 1990s with no public debate, and today they're in most processed foods, making Americans the world's GMO guinea pigs.

We know it's easy to get sunk by "information overload" and agribusiness advertising. So far the largest GMO maker, Monsanto, and other industry giants have plowed at least $35 million into keeping us in the dark.

To help us think straight, we've prepared seven points to consider and share with your friends -- all backed by authoritative studies. Here's what they reveal:

1. GMOs have never undergone standard testing or regulation for human safety. And now that they're in 70 percent of processed foods, it's extremely difficult for scientists to isolate their health risks.

2. But we know that GMOs have proven harmful in animal studies
. A 2009 review of 19 studies found mammals fed GM corn or soy developed "liver and kidney problems" that could mark the "onset of chronic diseases." Most were 90-day studies. In a new two-year study, rats fed GM corn developed two to three times more tumors -- some bigger than a quarter of their total body weight -- and these tumors appeared much earlier than in rats fed non-GM corn. Among scientists, the study has its defenders and critics, but even the critics underscore that we need more long-term studies.

3. And the most widely used GMOs are paired with an herbicide linked to serious reproductive problems and disease.
GM crops -- Roundup Ready soy and corn -- are treated with the herbicide glyphosate, which in exposed humans has been associated with DNA damage. In the lab, it's proven toxic to human liver cells.

4. The consequences of GMO technology are inherently unpredictable. Inserting a single gene can result in multiple, unintended DNA changes and mutations. "Unintended effects are common in all cases where GE [genetic engineering] techniques are used," warn scientists. One such environmental consequence -- genetic contamination of other plants -- is already documented. Note that unlike food, once released into the environment, seeds can't be "recalled"!

5. GMO makers intimidate and silence farmers and scientists. GMO corporations use patents and intellectual property rights to sue farmers, block research, and threaten investigators. "For a decade," protested Scientific American editors in 2009, GMO companies "have explicitly forbidden the use of the seeds for any independent research," so "it is impossible to verify that genetically modified crops perform as advertised."

6. GMOs undermine our food security. Within the biotechnology market, Monsanto alone controls 90 percent of GE crops worldwide. And Monsanto is one of three GMO companies including DuPont and Syngenta that control 70 percent of the global seed market, reinforcing monopoly power over our food. GMO seeds are costly and must be purchased every year, so they worsen farmers' indebtedness, dependency, and vulnerability to hunger.

7. GMOs aren't needed in the first place, so why would we take on these risks and harms? Studies show that safe, sustainable farming practices applied worldwide could increase our food supply as much as 50 percent. And keep in mind that the world's already producing 2,800 calories for every person on earth every day -- more than enough. And that's just with what's left over after using half the world's grain for feed, fuel and other purposes, and wasting one-third of all food. So the urgent question isn't about "more" anyway. It is, How can all of the world's people gain the power to secure healthy food? And a good start is knowing what's in our food.

For a cool, just-released animated video devouring the myth that we need industrial ag, see foodmyths.org.

Shopping in the Know (Not GMO)

• Avoid processed foods! It's a simple way to reduce exposure to the four most common GM ingredients: non-organic forms of soy, canola, cottonseed and corn, including high-fructose corn syrup.

• Look for the voluntary "non-GMO" label.

• Buy "certified organic," which ensures that no GMO ingredients were used.

• Visit www.NonGMOShoppingGuide.com for a list of thousands of GMO products and brands.
To sort more food myths from facts, visit the new Food MythBusters: the Real Story About What We Eat website at FoodMyths.Org. And, if you live in California, vote Nov. 6 for Proposition 37 to require GMO labeling.

Speak out, wherever you are. Demand federal GMO labeling and work to end GMOs.

GMO DEBATE OVER

GMO Debate Is Over; GM Crops Must Be Outlawed

The GMO debate is over. There is no longer any legitimate, scientific defense of growing GM crops for human consumption.

The only people still clinging to the outmoded myth that "GMOs are safe" are scientific mercenaries with financial ties to Monsanto and the biotech industry.

GMOs are an anti-human technology. They threaten the continuation of life on our planet. They are a far worse threat than terrorism, or even the threat of nuclear war.

As a shocking new study has graphically shown, GMOs are the new thalidomide. When rats eat GM corn, they develop horrifying tumors. Seventy percent of females die prematurely, and virtually all of them suffer severe organ damage from consuming GMO.

These are the scientific conclusions of the first truly "long-term" study ever conducted on GMO consumption in animals, and the findings are absolutely horrifying.

What this reveals is that genetic engineering turns FOOD into POISON.

Remember thalidomide? Babies being born with no arms and other heart-breaking deformities?

Thalidomide was pushed as "scientific" and "FDA approved." The same lies are now being told about GMO: they're safe. They're nutritious. They will feed the world!

But the real science now coming out tells a different picture: GMOs may be creating an entire generation of cancer victims who have a frighteningly heightened risk of growing massive mammary gland tumors caused by the consumption of GM foods. We are witnessing what may turn out to be the worst and most costly blunder in the history of western science: the mass poisoning of billions of people with a toxic food crop that was never properly tested in the first place.

We CAN Win This-GMO Game Over

The battle against genetically modified organisms being secretly engineered into our foods now has only one possible outcome: Victory for the People... and defeat of the corporate quack scientists and the outrageously dishonest and sinister biotech industry that has shoved GMO down our throats for a decade or more.

In terms of victory, I'm not just talking about Proposition 37, although that could very well be a turning point that accelerates the consumer victory. But even if Proposition 37 doesn't pass, the end of the line for hidden GMOs in our food is fast approaching. The word is out. People are getting informed. There's absolutely no going back to the era of "GMO ignorance," and the truth about GMOs causing cancer, infertility, organ damage and other deadly health problems is circulating everywhere.

Even Whole Foods is now teaching its own employees more details about GMO so that they can better answer customer's questions about GMO.

GMO labeling laws are in the planning stages in several states across the country, and Rep. Dennis Kucinich has already introduced a national GMO labeling law called the Genetically Engineered Food Safety Act, or H.R. 6635.

Monsanto is on the run from activists. Honest doctors and scientists everywhere are waking up and speaking out against GMO. Food retailers like Green PolkaDot Box have already abandoned GMO and they now run an online store that's virtually free of all genetically modified products.

And what's really fascinating is that both organics-loving progressives and liberty-loving conservatives are loudly speaking out against GMOs for all the same reasons!

Progressives, conservatives, libertarians... everybody wants to stop foods from being secretly formulated with deadly GMO

Think about it: What other issue has the widespread support of churches, environmentalists, health experts, food gurus, farmers and natural health consumers? Only the issue of GMO.

Our victory against the scourge of GMO is now inevitable. We have passed the tipping point of consumer awareness that Jeffrey Smith has long been advocating.

The "No on 37" campaign can only resort to lies now. They can't debate the facts on GMO. Their dishonest advertisements in California dare not even mention the term "genetic engineering!" They have desperately and pathetically turned to a campaign of obfuscation and confusion because they simply have no defense against a commonsense GMO labeling law.

GMOs should be labeled just like fats, sugars, proteins, calories and ingredients. It's basic common sense... and everybody knows it.

High sales of GMO based entirely on ignorance

GMOs are an industry based entirely on ignorance. GMOs are the only product whose retail success is based entirely on the fact that consumers had no idea they were buying them.

GMOs are the only products that people ACCIDENTALLY purchase!

Think about it:

• Nobody actively goes to the grocery store and seeks out foods with GMOs in them.

• No food company declares "Now, made with GMO!" on the label of any product they make.

• No grocery store advertises, "We sell GMO in our store!"

GMOs are only purchased accidentally by consumers. Nobody buys them on purpose. They buy them out of ignorance. And when that ignorance is transformed into knowledge, nobody wants to eat GMO!

Especially not when it's killing the rats and giving them massive cancer tumors like the ones shown here:

Oh, and by the way, the top ten companies funneling money into the campaign to defeat Proposition 37, the GMO labeling law, are all pesticide manufacturers! Click here to see the list for yourself.

Awareness is the solution; Resistance is victory

Because GMOs only succeed through consumer ignorance, education is the most effective solution to stopping GMO. Once people become aware of the truth about genetically engineered ingredients, the scam is over. The deception comes to an abrupt end. The era of eating poison in your breakfast cereal collapses.

That's why the single most important thing you can do right now to help defeat Monsanto and the GMO / biotech industry is spread the word about GMO. Tell everyone you know! And keep reminding them until they truly get it.

GMOs are poison! That's why they kill rats and cause horrifying cancer tumors, infertility, organ damage and premature death. Those are scientific statements, not merely opinions or emotional reactions. This is really happening. There really is poison in the food.

Action items to help defeat GMO

If you're looking for other things you can do to join in this victory against poisonous genetically engineered foods, here are some action items:

• Visit the GMO article page on Natural News. This page is updated each time we publish a new article on GMO.

Join in the national phone bank to call CA registered voters and help educate them about GMOs and Proposition 37.

• Share popular GMO videos such as A Rat's Tale, What Is A GMO?, or even my recent children's song and music video, Just Label It -- a great song for kids, they love singing it!

• Make a donation to the YES on 37 campaign in California.

• Read up on GMOs at the Institute for Responsible Technology, GM Watch or the Organic Consumers Association.

• Watch the highly informative Genetic Roulette Movie produced by Jeffrey Smith.

• Most importantly, stop buying GMOs! This means stop buying all non-organic groceries containing corn, soy, canola or cottonseed oil. Look for USDA Organic, because organic foods are not allowed to be made with GMO.

Share this article, too, because this message of ultimate victory needs to be heard across the industry. We need to stay on this issue and see it through, friends. We can win this!

AOFD- Agent Orange Food Disorder

"Chronic care management" means someone has a disorder or a disease and the doctors and hospitals aren't really helping to cure it, they just treat the symptoms with pharmaceuticals and wait for it to get worse. U.S. chronic care management is a well-planned out healthcare system based on the sobering fact that most people make themselves sick and diseased by what they eat and drink, and the popular medicine used to treat this sickness is made from the same chemicals found in what causes it. Still, fewer than 30 percent of the country understands this, and even fewer than that are doing anything about it.

Agent Orange Food Disorder, AOFD, is an ongoing mutation of cells from consuming pesticide regularly, in other words, it is the cumulative effect of consuming toxins over time. This type of cancer is not contagious and is not inherited, rather it is created inside the body and perpetuated, until it's often too late to defeat, or so "chronic care management" would have you believe.

Big question: Exactly WHEN does this non-contagious, non-inherited "disorder" of the cells begin, so modern science can really find that cure? The answer to this question is complicated, but explainable. First of all, asking a doctor, an oncologist, or a nutritionist, "When does cancer start?" is like asking someone to tell you exactly when they fell asleep. They don't know. Nobody knows exactly when or where in the body cancer starts. Doctors simply don't know.

There's a more intriguing question to consider: How long will people believe that the U.S. government, the FDA, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the entire pharmaceutical industry, and all those so well-promoted "walk for the cure" events keep conning people into believing they are searching for the cure? Let me tell you something now, no organization searches for the cure for something they are perpetuating; that would be stupid on their part. They do just the opposite without ever saying so. Plus, if any money actually does go to research, it goes to pay scientists to look for a magic vaccine to cure Agent Orange Food Disorder (PESTICIDE DISEASE), which is coming from the pesticide-laden foods you've been eating and keep eating, all while they continue searching, searching, searching "for the cure!" Yeah right.

AOFD is a mutation of cells from consuming pesticide regularly

GMO food delivers a small amount of Agent Orange ingredients into your blood and mutates your cells over time. How long that mutation of cells takes to overwhelm one of your vital organs, or strangulate your lungs or your brain, well, that's just a matter of how much of it you eat, how often, and for how long. The genetically-modified vegetable contains herbicides that kills so-called super-weeds, which is linked to the notorious "Agent Orange" used in Vietnam. (http://www.cbsnews.com)

If you don't know already, Agent Orange was a defoliant used in Vietnam to decimate the Southeast Asian jungles so the enemy couldn't hide. Because of the ingredient "2,4-D's" links to Agent Orange, people have dubbed the GMO corn as "Agent Orange corn," but that's just the beginning of the cancer breeding madness. (http://www.sott.net) Most of the U.S. soldiers who hiked through Agent Orange came home to the U.S. with cancer, and they didn't even know it. Now, most Americans are "walking" through the same nightmare by consuming GMO foods. What is the cure? Understand this; there is no starting point for AOFD, only an end. People must use their common sense to beat cancer. Put it this way, would you spray a little "Raid" roach killer on your food if it made it taste better? What if "RAID FOOD" was a little cheaper than organic food, would you buy that instead? Wake up and smell the bug killer!

Let's follow the 100 YEAR CANCER BREEDING historical time line:

Dow Chemical: The infamous Herbert Dow failed several times before finding the formula for cancer causing food. There are many years of corruption when it comes to pesticide laden food, but Dow and Monsanto are the reigning devils. Here's a MASSIVE list of Dow Chemical's violations, the same company the International Olympic Committee deemed "a proud Olympic partner:" (http://athletesagainstdowchemical.wordpress.com) Dow Chemical also manufacturers Bisphenol-A (BPA), the chemical used in plastics that leads to infertility, breast and prostate cancer, diabetes, thyroid malfunction, miscarriages and Down syndrome.

After Dow Chemical, we saw the true beginning of GMOs and insecticide use on humans by Hitler's "right arm" of the German uprising, I.G. Farben: (http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Dow_Chemical_Company)

I.G. Farben's "Business With Disease." Interessengemeinschaft Farben, or IG Farben, was a powerful cartel of BASF, Bayer, Hoechst, and other German chemical and pharmaceutical companies. IG Farben was the single largest donor to the election campaign of Adolph Hitler. I.G. Farben created chlorine gas for Hitler to use on humans in WWI. In 1915, German troops began dispersing chlorine gas from tens of thousands of cylinders at the front lines of the enemy and in the trenches. They first used it against French and Canadian troops. The types of chemical weapons employed ranged from mustard gas to lethal agents like phosgene and chlorine.

The most effective and efficient technique developed for killing the Jews at Auschwitz depended on the same pesticide that was used to kill the lice in prisoners' clothing. Thanks to I.G. Farben, the disinfectant, sold under the trade name of Zyklon B, was in plentiful supply. (http://www.pbs.org/auschwitz/40-45/killing/) Hitler killed about three million Jews with pesticide. How many innocent people has Agent Orange food killed? Since cancer in the U.S. kills about 750 thousand people per year, you might start referring to agricultural biotechnology as the modern day Nazi SS.

Monsanto is the "wicked witch" of agricultural biotechnology. In 2010, the company reported sales of approximately $10.5 billion and had over 27,000 employees. This monstrous company produces biotechnology and the horror toxin of the cancer epidemic called Roundup. Other Monsanto products include the now ubiquitous PCBs, DDT, Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) and Aspartame. Monsanto is one of the "Big Six" biotech corporations, along with BASF, Bayer, Dow Chemical Company, Dupont, and Syngenta. Starting to sound familiar? Yes, we are talking about Nazi scientists working for American corporations and breeding cancer in vegetables. (http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Monsanto)

Vietnam's Agent Orange and Roundup: Monsanto's deadly legacy. August of 2011 marked 50 years since Agent Orange was first used by the U.S. military in its war against Vietnam, and its effects persist to this day, with three generations of exposed Vietnamese families and American veterans suffering from horrific birth defects and disabilities. Of course, Monsanto and Dow profited greatly from its production and use, but are not responsible for reparations for the millions it crippled with disabilities and birth defects. Instead, Monsanto and Dow continue to profit from their poisons. Today, they are currently seeking approval for genetically modified crops that can withstand massive doses of 2,4-D, the major chemical agent used in Agent Orange.

Monsanto's best-selling herbicide RoundUp causes birth defects. A new generation of babies born near fields of "RoundUp Ready" (genetically modified) soy in Argentina are suffering birth defects as terrible as those found in the Agent Orange contaminated areas of Vietnam. Roundup, the most widely used herbicide in the world, causes endocrine disruption, damage to reproductive organs and to DNA, and it causes cancer. (http://www.organicconsumers.org/bytes/ob281.htm)

The GMO wars

What do GMO, Zyklon B, RoundUp, Pesticide, Glyphosate, 2,4-D, Dimethylphthalate, and "Raid" Ant & Roach Killer have in common? They all kill bugs, weeds, rats and humans, but still most Americans have NO IDEA just how pervasive genetically-modified organisms (GMO) have become throughout the food supply, especially in GMO corn, soy, cottonseed oil and canola oil. So called "inert" ingredients can kill you! (http://www.getipm.com/government/ny-inert.htm)

Predatory marketing practices by multinational biotechnology companies like Monsanto effectively seize the reigns of agriculture and dictate how it will proceed. Check it out:
We are currently experiencing the GMO wars, where one biotech giant sues another for control. Monsanto is suing DuPont and vice versa, over patents and anti-competitive business practices, to see who will dominate the world's toxic food supply and benefit the most from AOFD (cancer causing food and chemotherapy treatment). (http://www.naturalnews.com)

GMO foods, pesticide, and chemotherapy are cooked up by the same handful of companies, who all have the same dual agenda: MAKE MONEY AND MAKE PEOPLE SICK. These companies run the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries of America, and they don't just feed Americans these toxins, they export them to countries all over the world. Continents are bombarded with exported contaminated vegetables which are simply molecular-twisted chem-food. Many countries are just starting to figure it out now, thanks to French researchers blowing the whistle over the past few weeks. (http://www.naturalnews.com)

Will people figure out cancer is mainly caused by eating chemicals, or will they get fooled for another generation or two, and serve their kids and grandkids Agent Orange food? Do you think there will be a pill or vaccine for that same cancer then? Do you still believe there will be a drug people can take for a few weeks or months that will reverse all those warped cells back to normal, and fight off the pesticide that you may still be eating? Will everything return to normal in your body, like it was before you began regularly eating what killed thousands of Vietnamese families, children, and U.S. soldiers in Vietnam? (http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_23429.cfm)

I feel horrible for people suffering from cancer. As of now, only about 50 percent will survive it, unless they learn about organic food (http://www.forksoverknives.com/). I feel bad for the people who have cancer now and don't know it. I also feel bad for people who don't know how to cure themselves.

There is a cure for cancer. Oh, you didn't know? Stop eating GMO, pesticide-laden food. Stop eating processed food. Stop drinking fluoridated water. Gamechanging News About GMOs

Following an explosive French study indicating a link between Monsanto's controversial genetically engineered corn and cancer, Russian authorities have suspended all imports and use of GMO corn.

And it's not just Russia that's appalled by what's been learned. The French government asked European authorities to "take all necessary measures to protect human and animal health, measures that could go as far as emergency suspension of imports" of GM corn in the entire European Union.

All 15 nations in the European Union already require labeling of foods containing genetically engineered ingredients, and many countries in Europe restrict or ban the planting of genetically engineered crops. But U.S. diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks show that the U.S. government has been conspiring to retaliate against Europe for refusing to use GM seeds, by engaging in aggressive trade wars against reluctant nations.

The cables showed that the U.S. government, working with biotech firms, has planned to "retaliate" against those who attempted to stop the spread of GM crops. They recommended causing "pain" in the EU and to be prepared for a prolonged battle.

The U.S. is far and away the world's driving political and agricultural force behind GMOs in the food supply, but even here change is on the horizon. Surveys find that 91 percent of the American public supports the labeling of genetically engineered foods, and that 53 percent of Americans in 2009 said they would choose non-GMO brands if labels gave them a choice.

Monsanto is terrified that the "right to know" through labeling of GMOs could well be a tipping point.

On November 6, Californians will vote on the "right to know" ballot initiative (Proposition 37), which would require labeling of genetically engineered foods in the Golden State.

Because labeling in California would likely lead to labeling nationwide, the stakes are high. Monsanto and the biotech industry are spending many tens of millions of dollars trying to fight Proposition 37 with what many observers call pseudo-studies and scare tactics. But so far, voters aren't buying it. More than two-thirds of California's voters in a recent LA Times poll said they support Proposition 37.

Support the Right to Know

Organizers around the world are rallying around California's Proposition 37 as a point of leverage in the world's GMO struggle. Meanwhile, concern is growing that Monsanto's virtual stranglehold on federal government policy could lead to federal interference if Proposition 37 does pass.
That's why the Food Revolution Network, in partnership with Care2 and its 20 million members, the Institute for Responsible Technology, and many other organizations, has launched a major national petition calling on the U.S. Congress to mandate strong and effective labeling of genetically engineered foods. In an election year, the petition is calling for members of Congress to side with their constituents, instead of with the short-term economic interests of the biotech industry.

Sign the petition here.

Can Americans win the right to know? The stakes are high, but so, too, is the opportunity to make a difference. We're at a turning point that will impact the lives of billions of people now and for generations to come.

Can a company as powerful as Monsanto be stopped? Here are short and extremely powerful statements from GMO experts John Robbins and Andrew Kimbrell on how it can be done:

ATTENTION: Prop 37

By Dr. Mercola
The first-ever lifetime feeding study1 evaluating the health risks of genetically engineered foods was published online on September 19, and the results are troubling, to say the least. This new study joins a list of over 30 other animal studies showing toxic or allergenic problems with genetically engineered foods.
The study, published in the peer-reviewed journal Food and Chemical Toxicology, found that rats fed a type of genetically engineered corn that is prevalent in the US food supply for two years developed massive mammary tumors, kidney and liver damage, and other serious health problems.
The research was considered so "hot" that the work was done under strict secrecy. According to a French article in Le Nouvel Observateur,2 the researchers used encrypted emails, phone conversations were banned, and they even launched a decoy study to prevent sabotage!
According to the authors:
"The health effects of a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize (from 11% in the diet), cultivated with or without Roundup, and Roundup alone (from 0.1ppb in water), were studied 2 years in rats. [Editors note: this level of Roundup is permitted in drinking water and GE crops in the US]
In females, all treated groups died 2-3 times more than controls, and more rapidly. This difference was visible in 3 male groups fed GMOs.
All results were hormone and sex dependent, and the pathological profiles were comparable. Females developed large mammary tumors almost always more often than and before controls, the pituitary was the second most disabled organ; the sex hormonal balance was modified by GMO and Roundup treatments.
In treated males, liver congestions and necrosis were 2.5-5.5 times higher... Marked and severe kidney nephropathies were also generally 1.3-2.3 greater. Males presented 4 times more large palpable tumors than controls, which occurred up to 600 days earlier.
Biochemistry data confirmed very significant kidney chronic deficiencies; for all treatments and both sexes, 76% of the altered parameters were kidney related. These results can be explained by the non linear endocrine-disrupting effects of Roundup, but also by the overexpression of the transgene in the GMO and its metabolic consequences."
Folks, if this doesn't get your attention, nothing will.
Does 10 percent or more of your diet consist of genetically engineered (GE) ingredients? At present, you can't know for sure, since GE foods are not labeled in the US. But chances are, if you eat processed foods, your diet is chock full of genetically engineered ingredients you didn't even know about.
The study in question includes photos and graphs. I highly recommend taking the time to actually read through this remarkable study,3 and look at the documented evidence. They really are not exaggerating when they say it caused massive tumors... They are huge! Some of the tumors weighed in at 25 percent of the rat's total body weight. This is the most current and best evidence to date of the toxic effects of GE foods.

Why Aren't Americans Dropping Like Flies?

Rats only live a few years. Humans live around 80 years, so we will notice these effects in animals long before we see them in humans. The gigantic human lab experiment is only about 10 years old, so we are likely decades away from tabulating the human casualties. This is some of the strongest evidence to date that we need to exercise the precautionary principle ASAP and avoid these foods. Naturally, the study is already under heavy fire. According to Monsanto spokesman Thomas Helscher:4
"Numerous peer-reviewed scientific studies performed on biotech crops to date, including more than a hundred feeding studies, have continuously confirmed their safety, as reflected in the respective safety assessments by regulatory authorities around the world."
However, it's critical to understand that the longest feeding study was a mere 90 days long – a far cry from two years! In the featured study, the true onslaught of diseases really set in during the 13th month of the experiment, although tumors and severe liver and kidney damage did emerge as early as four months in males, and seven months for females.
Is it any wonder then that feeding studies lasting just a few weeks or even three months have failed to corroborate these horrific findings? Reuters quotes Mark Tester, a research professor at the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics at the University of Adelaide as saying:5
"If the effects are as big as purported, and if the work really is relevant to humans, why aren't the North Americans dropping like flies? GM has been in the food chain for over a decade over there – and longevity continues to increase inexorably."
Although there are clearly many variables that contribute to cancer, GE foods are a new candidate as they have been in our food supply for over a decade. Interestingly, cancer was just declared as having overtaken heart disease as the number one killer among American Hispanics,6 and according to 2009 CDC statistics it's now also the leading killer in 18 states.
I believe it is crucial that we implement the precautionary principle as rapidly as possible as this study confirms it is difficult to predict precisely what GE foods might do to the youths of today, as many are eating a fair amount of GE ingredients practically from day one. (Yes, some infant formulas actually contain GE ingredients!) What will their health be 10 or 20 years from now? Most adults simply haven't been eating GE foods long enough to tell what the real ramifications are.
Do we really wait 50 years to see what GE foods will do to the human health and lifespan?

GE Foods' Connection to Breast Cancer

This newest study provides clear and convincing evidence that GE agriculture is contributing to cancer in exposed populations. The timing of this new study – two weeks before Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) – is therefore all the more fitting, as GreenMedInfo.com recently commented on this study:7
"...in female animals, 93 percent of the tumors found were in the mammary glands. They also '...observed a strikingly marked induction of mammary tumors by R[oundup] alone ...even at the very lowest dose administered.'"
Generational gene transfer is yet another issue. A frequent claim has been that new genes introduced in GE foods are harmless, as they would theoretically be broken up in the intestines. But researchers have now discovered that genes can be transferred through the intestinal wall into your blood. GE crop genes have been found in sufficiently large amounts in human blood, muscle tissue and liver to be identified.8 And the biological impact – especially the generational impact – of this gene transfer is completely unknown, and cannot be known for at least a human generation or two. Unless we take notice of the results from animal feeding studies, that is...

10-Year Feeding Study ALSO Found GE Foods Cause Severe Health Problems

This news comes on the heels of another experimental animal feeding study carried out over a 10-year period in Norway. It was published earlier this summer, and in this study, genetically engineered (GE) corn and corn-based products were found to cause obesity, and alter the function of the digestive system and major organs, including the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and genitals.9 Animals fed genetically engineered Bt corn ate more, got fatter, and were less able to digest proteins due to alterations in the micro-structure of their intestines. They also suffered immune system alterations.
The impaired ability to digest proteins may be of particular concern as this can have far-reaching implications for human health. If your body cannot digest proteins, your body will be less able to produce amino acids, which are necessary building blocks for proper cell growth and function.

Monsanto's GE Corn is Already Losing its Effectiveness, Giving Rise to Superbugs and Superweeds

Related news also sheds light on the massive devastation brought on the environment by GE crops, and how soil destruction ends up affecting your health by decimating the nutrient content in the foods you eat.
In response to a scientific study that determined Western corn rootworms on two Illinois farms had developed resistance to Monsanto's YieldGard corn, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) made an admission about genetically engineered crops: Yes, there is "mounting evidence" that Monsanto's insecticide-fighting corn is losing its effectiveness in the Midwest. Last year, resistant rootworms infested corn fields in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Nebraska.
According to Bloomberg:10
"The agency's latest statement on rootworm resistance comes a year after the problem was first documented and just as U.S. corn yields are forecast to be the lowest in 17 years amid drought in the Corn Belt. Corn is St. Louis-based Monsanto's biggest business line, accounting for $4.81 billion of sales, or 41 percent of total revenue, in its 2011 fiscal year.
...The EPA's focus is Monsanto's YieldGard corn, which is engineered to produce the Cry3Bb1 protein from Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt, a natural insecticide.
The EPA expects to get data on the performance of YieldGard from Monsanto within two months and complete its analysis by year-end the agency said in its statement, which was e-mailed by Stacy Kika, an EPA spokeswoman. The evaluation will include a review of scientific studies, it said.
...The agency may implement 'strategies' to reduce the threat of resistance to Cry3Bb1, it said. Kika said she couldn't comment on what those strategies may include."
Considering the fact that YieldGard was introduced less than a decade ago, in 2003, this could be very bad news for farmers growing genetically engineered Bt crops everywhere. It really is just a matter of time before resistance sets in, and it doesn't take very long. Naturally, Monsanto disagrees – more data is needed to prove their insecticide-fighting corn is failing, the biotech giant claims.

Roundup-Ready Crops Pose Even Greater Resistance Problem

But YieldGard is just one of Monsanto's problems. Roundup-Ready crops are creating super-resistant weeds that no longer respond to the herbicide. In fact, the problem is so bad that 20 million acres of cotton, soybean and corn have already been invaded by Roundup-resistant weeds.11
To combat the problem, the EPA requires farmers to plant non-modified corn next to their Bt corn, in the hopes that unexposed bugs will mate with the resistant rootworms and create a new generation of hybrids that are again susceptible to the Bt toxin.
However, one has to wonder whether or not it might also work the other way around. The hybrids may just as well incorporate the resistance... Still, that's the prevailing logic the EPA is running with at the moment.
Unfortunately, resistant weeds are not the only, or the worst, side effect of Roundup-Ready crops, genetically engineered to withstand otherwise lethal doses of glyphosate – the active ingredient in Roundup.
Mounting evidence tells us glyphosate itself may be far more dangerous than anyone ever suspected... Earlier this month, Purdue scientist Dr. Don Huber again spoke out about "the woes of GMO's" and the inherent dangers of glyphosate in an article published by GM Watch.12
"Corn used to be the healthiest plant you could grow. Now, multiple diseases, pests, and weak plants are the common denominator of 'modern' hybrids," he writes.
"Over three decades ago we started the shift to a monochemical glyphosate herbicide program that was soon accompanied by glyphosate- and insect-resistant genetically engineered crops.
These two changes in agricultural practices – the excessive application of a strong essential mineral chelating, endocrine-disrupting chemical for weed control and the genetically engineered production of new toxins in our food crops – was accompanied by abandonment of years of scientific research based on the scientific precautionary principle. We substituted a philosophical 'substantially equivalent,' a new term coined to avoid accountability for the lack of understanding of consequences of our new activities, for science."

The Environmental and Human Health Hazards of Glyphosate

I previously interviewed Dr. Huber about the dangers of glyphosate, and if you missed it, I highly recommend taking the time to listen to it now. It is indeed sobering, as this broad-spectrum herbicide adds its own health risks to an already stacked deck of health hazards related to genetically engineered foods, whether it be Bt- or Roundup-Ready.
Total Video Length: 00:58:12
The problem stems from the way glyphosate persists in and alters the soil, which has wide-ranging ramifications. As a potent organic phosphate chelator, glyphosate immobilizes micronutrients that are essential for normal physiological functions not only in soils, but also in growing plants and in those who eat the plants, namely animals and humans.
The nutritional efficiency of genetically engineered (GE) plants is profoundly compromised. Far from helping improve nutrition, micronutrients such as iron, manganese and zinc can be reduced by as much as 80-90 percent in GE plants! Glyphosate also decimates beneficial microorganisms essential for proper plant function and high quality nutrition, while promoting the proliferation of disease-causing pathogens.
"Glyphosate is a very powerful selective antibiotic that kills beneficial, but not pathogenic, microorganisms in the soil and intestine at very low residual levels in food," Dr. Huber writes.13 "Residue levels permitted in food are 40 to 800 times the antibiotic threshold and concentrations shown in clinical studies to damage mammalian tissues.
By genetically engineering plants with the insertion of certain foreign bacterial genes, glyphosate can be applied directly to crop plants without killing them. There is nothing in the genetic engineering technology that does anything to the glyphosate that is applied to the plant – and that accumulates in it. Both the toxic proteins produced by the foreign bacterial genes and the glyphosate chemical are now present in the feed and food produced for animal and human consumption.
Genetic engineering has introduced other genes for insect resistance where additional toxic proteins accumulate in plant tissues consumed by animals and man. These toxins are found in the blood and readily transferred across the placenta to developing babies in the womb.
Genetic engineering is more like a virus infection than a normal breeding process and results in a multitude of mutations and epigenetic effects as genetic integrity in the plant is disrupted.
These 'foreign' bacterial genes are highly promiscuous and easily transferred by wind or insects to other plants; to soil microorganisms during plant residue decomposition, or to intestinal microflora during food digestion where they continue to direct the production of toxins and allergenic proteins. Epigenetic effects are manifest in GMO plants as a yield drag, poor nutrient efficiency, increased disease, and reduced stress tolerance."
As Dr. Huber warns, scientific studies demonstrate that the assumptions about genetically engineered crops relied upon by the biotech industry and ignorant regulators are invalid. The truth of the matter can be clearly seen in the following effects:
Development of resistant "super-weeds" Development of resistant "super-pathogens" and brand new GE-related organisms
Loss of natural biological controls of pathogens (plant, animal, and human) Degradation of soil quality
Reduced crop yields Reduced nutrient content
Increased disease and more virulent pathogens Exponential rise in infertility and birth defects

Why We Don't Need Genetically Engineered Foods

As stated by Dr. Huber:
"Future historians may well look back upon our time and write, not about how many pounds of pesticide we did or didn't apply, but by how willing we are to sacrifice our children and future generations for this massive genetic engineering experiment that is based on flawed science and failed promises just to benefit the bottom line of a commercial enterprise."
The saddest part about the GE debacle is that there's no real need to take the wild risks we're currently taking with our food supply and our future. For years, genetically modified crops have been sold as the solution for feeding the world. But mounting evidence shows the way to feed seven billion plus inhabitants on this planet is by increasing biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.
In fact, the most authoritative evaluation of agriculture, the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development,14 determined that the genetically engineered foods have nothing to offer the goals of reducing hunger and poverty, improving nutrition, health and rural livelihoods, and facilitating social and environmental sustainability.
The report was a three-year collaborative effort with 900 participants and 110 countries, and was co-sponsored by all the majors, e.g. the World Bank, FAO, UNESCO, WHO. In reality, genetic engineering reduce yields,15 increase farmers' dependence on multinationals, reduce biodiversity, increase herbicide use, and take money away from more successful and appropriate farming methods.
Hans Johr, a high-ranking executive at the Nestle Company recently went on the record saying GE food is not only unnecessary, but that the food industry would be better off employing other techniques.
According to GM Watch:16
"Jonathan Foley, director of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota and co-author of a study... on water management and yield production, agrees with Johr that GMOs are not the answer to food security. 'I don't think GMOs have contributed, or will likely contribute much, to food security. Most of the GMO traits are focused on pest and herbicide resistance, which is arguably a good thing, but are not improving yield characteristics all that much (at least compared to conventional breeding, or better yet, marker-assisted breeding).
Furthermore, there are other approaches to managing pests and weeds that would be equally (or more) effective, like not planting such large monocultures in the first place...' Johr also went one step further, and addressed the issue of labeling. 'We [Nestle] have a very simple way of looking at GM: listen to what the consumer wants. If they don't want it in products, you don't put it in them...'"

Passing Prop 37 is Key to Expanding Sustainable Agriculture in North America

Despite Johr's stated view, Nestle has donated nearly $1.17 million to the "No on 37 Coalition," which is working to prevent the labelling of GE foods in California. So much for listening to consumers...
Although many organic consumers and natural health activists already understand the importance of Proposition 37, the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Foods Act, it cannot be overemphasized that winning the battle over Prop 37 is perhaps the most important food fight Americans – not just Californians – have faced so far. Once food manufacturers can no longer label or market GE-tainted foods as "natural" or "all-natural," and once all GE ingredients are clearly marked, millions of consumers will demand non-GE alternatives, and organic and non-GE food sales will dramatically increase.
But in order to win this fight for the right to know what's in our food, we need your help, as the biotech industry will surely outspend us by 100 to 1, if not more, for their propaganda.
Please remember, the failure or success of this ballot initiative is wholly dependent on your support and funding! There are no major industry pocketsfunding this endeavor, which was created by a California grandmother. In order to have a chance against the deep pockets of Big Biotech and transnational food corporations, it needs donations from average citizens. So please, if you have the ability, I strongly encourage you to make a donation to this cause.
It's important to realize that getting this law passed in California would have the same overall effect as a national law, as large companies are not likely going to label their products as genetically engineered when sold in California (the 8th largest economy in the world), but not when sold in other states. Doing so would be a costly PR disaster. So please, I urge you to get involved and help in any way you can, regardless of what state you live in.
